The Icelandic Orca project started in 2007 in Vestmannaeyjar, an archipelago south of Iceland where killer whales can be found in the summer. In 2013 we started a new phase of this project which includes a winter field season in Grundarfjörður, West Iceland. Our research focuses on photo-identification, acoustic communication and behaviour and our aim is to learn more about the role of these top predators in the Icelandic marine ecosystem.
In this website you will find information about the project. Follow our blog or our Facebook page for the latest on Icelandic killer whales. You can now subscribe to receive the latest posts directly in your email inbox! Just visit our blog and enter your email on the box on the right side.
