The Icelandic Orca project started in 2007 in Vestmannaeyjar, an archipelago south of Iceland where killer whales can be found in the summer. In 2013 we started a new phase of this project which includes a winter field season in Grundarfjörður, West Iceland. Our research focuses on photo-identification, acoustic communication and behaviour and our aim is to learn more about the role of these top predators in the Icelandic marine ecosystem.
